Media Project

I created a podcast that explains my publication. Here is the podcast:

Context for Media

This audio presents a short podcast hosted by me, Faith Lopez, that explores how online technology and innovation can help bridge the information gap for students. It highlights the challenge students face when navigating the internet, where reliable information is often buried among misinformation, leading to confusion and frustration.

The discussion emphasizes the importance of equipping students with fact-checking skills, access to trustworthy platforms, and an “innovation plan” that provides structured guidance—particularly in preparing for higher education. I describe building an online platform with resources such as videos, courses, peer communities, live polls, and collaborative tools, all designed to make students’ transition into college more manageable and engaging.

The podcast also addresses the role of educators in teaching students to use AI and digital tools responsibly, verifying the information they encounter, and leveraging platforms like Google Classroom, Wakelet, and interactive resources to create supportive learning environments. I explain that misinformation can significantly hinder college access and long-term success, making digital literacy a crucial skill.

Ultimately, the message I hope to convey is that technology, when used wisely and intentionally, is not a barrier but a powerful ally in education. By combining reliable tools, innovation, and community support, educators can empower students to separate fact from fiction, build confidence, and develop lifelong skills that extend beyond admissions into their future careers.

Final Publication

The final draft of the publication contains all of the change recommendations that I got from peer feedback. For the final publication I have followed my Publication Outline and the Rough Draft I have already created. I have submitted it to Inside Higher Ed according to their guidelines which includes direct links in the text instead of references. If accepted I will link it here and if not accepted or hasn’t been accepted yet, I will submit a copy of it.
