Being a self differentiated leader means that you can distinguish between thoughts and feelings when it comes to decisions and set clear boundaries. A leader should hold their emotions back when it comes to making rash decisions and connecting with coworkers. Being one of these leaders mean that they can accept change a lot easier than a non self differentiated leader can. For example if a leader of a group makes a necessary change in the plan or idea, they are willing to accept the outcome of the new plan but if there is a leader who does not separate their emotions, if someone in the team makes a last minute change they will have a lot of negative reactions to the slight change in the plan.
Crucial Conversations are necessary because when something happens that is a change it sparks up the necessary interactions between the team needed to successfully implement the plan. When something changes in the plan, there can be good and negative feelings about it. It is necessary to have these crucial conversations when talking with your team because when emotions come to play logic just gets tossed out of the window out of sight. Being a self differentiated leader creates a sense of logic and acceptance in the group when they see the leader relaxed about the change.
They are many key factors that go into play when it comes to getting involved in a crucial conversation. By knowing how to handle them effectively a self differentiated leader can make all the difference when it comes to making those important decisions that affect the plan of the team.
Below is the list of key factors that I plan to use when meeting with other counselors and teachers to promote my online platorm.

- Getting Unstuck
Spot the crucial conversations that are needed to discuss the implantation of my Innovation Plan and gather input from the counselors that are helping you test out the online platform and who are helping you promote it throughout the schools.
2. Start with the Heart
Before making the final decision in the crucial conversations we first need to have a moment to separate our emotions and hash it out before we start the actual conversation going so we can have everyone feel like their voice is being heard. No issue can be resolved if someone else is feeling like they are unheard, unappreciated or unwanted in the conversation. It is essential to being the leader where you can start a conversation that makes everyone feel included and put your own emotions aside whatever they may be.
3. Learn to Look
When meeting with the other counselors and teachers it is important for me as the leader to look for indiscrepencies and how they are reacting when the conversation about the online platform is happening so I can see what is positive and negative about my Innovation Plan.
4. Make it Safe
During the crucial conversations in the meeting, I will be prepared for feedback because at some point everyone resists change at one point whether it be big or small. As the leader I will make their concerns feel heard and see how it relates to my Innovation plan so we can better improve things.
5. Master my Story
Before meeting with the other counselors and teachers I will make sure my Innovation plan looks good and practice with my pitch to make sure everything make sense when I explain it. It is easy to create horrible stories in my imagination about why the other counselors do not like my plan so I need to practice as much as I can and learn to accept whatever feedback I receive.
6. State my Path
During the crucial conversation I am having with the other counselors and teachers, I will share all of the facts and explain how this online platform will benefit the students when they are applying to colleges. I will tell them the reason behind the motivation I have to implement the online platform and ask them if they have any feedback that can help move the platform along.
7. Explore Other Paths
As I am asking the other teachers and counselors for thoughts about my Innovation Plan, I will be taking all of them to heart and writing them down to see how I can improve the online platform effectively. It will demonstrate that I will respect all of their views and opinions on the matter and that their voices can be heard.
8. Move to Action
At the end of the crucial conversation, that is when me and the other counselors will make a decision about whether or not to move forward with the Innovation Plan. The next steps will be to set up meetings online so we can start executing our plan to help students will college admissions.
