Understanding by Design focuses on an interesting design with a spotlight mostly on teaching and not learning. In the book the Udb Template was created and its a helpful resources for teachers to learn and break down their lesson plans that are under some strict standards and requirements. When a teacher is new it is easy for them to become focused on making their lesson plan perfect and often forgetting to breathe and take time to work things out. The table helps the teachers be able to plan it out a lot better and helps them see that its not as hard as they think it is to succeed.

Fink’s 3 Column Table is an amazing tool that helps round up education to be outcome based. When teachers need to design a unit around one of their lesson plans, this is a great tool to use for them. It gives them structure and flexibility when they are creating it.

After creating my plan in both the Understanding by Design template and Fink’s 3 Column Table, I think that they both equally benefit from each other. While I was working on the Understanding by design template, it was able to help me map out my desired plan for my Innovation Plan and iron out some details. It was the same for Fink’s table. They both really helped me come to terms with what I wanted to teach my students and made me think. It definitely helps my Innovation Plan by letting others be able to see the details and steps that I need and want to take in order for my online platform to succeed.

Below is the Udb plan I created
