It's Not Just About Ideas

Phase 1, Gather ideas (1^st month)

1. To start I will need to talk to my colleagues and the other counselors about the platform that I am creating.
2. Find a website to create an online platform on
3. Develop strategies on what to put on the platform and what students will read.
4. Present Innovation Proposal to high school counselors
5. Develop ideas and ask students what they would like to see on the online platform and how they would benefit from it.
6. Gather all my ideas into one and look it over with my colleagues and other professional connections.
7. Think of design ideas and how I can use that with the online platform.
8. Start designing the online platform.

Phase 2, Designing the platform (2-10 months in)

1. Work with my colleagues and other admission counselors to develop a database for the online platform.
2. Do lots of research into the different strategies and resources that students use to gather information.
3. Apply this research into the design and implementation of the platform.
4. Start gathering feedback on the progress of the platform from students and counselors.
5. Follow up with that feedback and use it to make the platform better.
6. Start adding content that students will utilize.
7. Fill the platform with as much content as necessary to help students on their journey.
8. Get feedback from my colleagues and counselors on what they believe goes into the platform.
9. Apply those suggestions to the online platform.
10. Finish developing the online platform.

Phase 3, Peer review (12-20 months in)

1. Share the online platform with high school counselors and request feedback.
2. Evaluate the feedback.
3. Apply the feedback that is necessary into the online platform.
4. Share the online platform one more time with the high school counselors to get some final feedback.
5. Share it with my colleagues and other admissions counselors for feedback.
6. Take all of the feedback and evaluate it.
7. Implement the feedback into the online platform and prepare to share it with school counselors and students.

Phase 4, Implementation (20-24 months in)

1. Share the online platform with high school counselors in my area.
2. Share the platform with my colleagues and other admissions counselors so they can send it out in their area.
3. Gather feedback from students and high school counselors for the online platform and evaluate the feedback.
4. Apply the feedback to the online platform.
5. Keep updating it for as long as possible and assess feedback from surveys that can be done on the website and keep working to improve it.
