Self Assessment Grade
Based on the collaboration and group and discussions that I did while looking back at the class, I feel like that I have earned a 90/100. There is definitely room to improve with what I am doing and I am excited to continue learning throughout the ADL program.
Key and supporting contributions
When I started the 5389 course I was confident but a little bit nervous about how it would turn out and what I would learn from it. I completed all of my assignments and turned them in on time and usually a day or two earlier than I was supposed to. I took the feedback and criticism well and adjusted my posts accordingly. This first part of the semester, I was really busy with work because I travel a lot and it is currently secondary recruitment season so my busiest month was in February. I still managed to find time in the mornings though to work on my assignments.
I collaborated with my classmates in a GroupMe and we shared assignments and asked for feedback. Together with Adaliz Barroso, Leah Strannemar. Sonia Rodriguez and Whitney Davis, we gave each other advice and feedback on our assignments and helped each other when we were unsure.
I also contributed to the weekly discussion posts and responded to other classmates to the best of my abilities. There is definitely room for improvement there because I was really busy for a while and in turn I submitted discussions a little later than I wanted to. I watched all of the videos and looked at the readings and I feel like I contributed well to all of the discussions. For the class sessions, I attended the first one but I was unable to go to the rest of them because I had late night college fairs to attend. I did however watch the videos afterwards and I adjusted my assignment accordingly. I do think there is room for improvement in that area because sometimes I submitted assignments before watching the video and I could not change them after they were officially turned it. That happened with me on the first assignment because I thought the due date for it was earlier than stated so I accidently turned it in too early. I would have submitted it again but I was worried it would be considered a second attempt and not given the full credit of the grade because of it.
Improvement Areas
There is so much I can improve with the courses because I am not done learning about the ADL program. I have about 4 more courses to go and I am excited to continue learning everything I need to know to be successful with my students. I can definitely improve my discussions and my replies. I usually do not know how to reply to discussion posts properly so they are usually a little shaky and I definitely would love to work on that. Another area of improvement is my assignments themselves. I feel like I could add more to my posts and add more substance to them. I did struggle with making my audience clear in the first two assignments but I think I rounded it out well in the last one.
For my next course that I am taking I plan on improving everything that I talked about in this whole blog post that needs to be worked on. I recognize that I still have a lot to learn but I also recognize that I am in a better learning place than I was a year ago when I first started in the ADL program. I am very excited to see what comes next.
