Contributions to my learning community EDLD 5302

Looking back on 5302, I recognize that I engaged in the class well ranging from doing discussion posts to collaborating with my classmates on their assignments. I definitely have room to grow in the future courses that I will take in the ADL program. For the reasons I give in this post, I give myself a 91 out of 100 for EDLD 5302.

Right now, I am focused on completing my assignments ahead of time and then the week that they are due, I am looking over them again and making any changes that I need. I feel like this is working well and I am going to keep doing my assignments that way. One thing that I am doing where I think I need to change is the discussion posts. When I post one from the discussion prompt, I leave it like that and I do not respond to any other posts until later that week. I feel like I need to post to at least one or two posts in the future before I leave blackboard to go and do other things. Nevertheless I always posted at the beginning of the week to allow other posters to add their thoughts. Overall I think I did pretty well on the discussions. I did miss responding to others on the last discussion which I need to do better with in the future but I watched all of the required videos and readings which helped me to create some great discussion posts. I posted a small amount of posts on my blog and I know I could do better with the amount of posts I did.

I collaborated with a small number of people through GroupMe and we had a zoom meeting at one point. Working with Whitney Davis, Patricia Hamilton, Nadia Flores, Khelia Williams, Joseline Sanchez and Joseph Perrone was one of the best experiences that I have had. We collaborated on assignments and looked over each others work to give positive and negative feedback on what we needed to improve. On occasion I took some leadership in the group when it came to creating and managing the group. I created a separate one and added everyone wanted to work together. There were others who took charge as well so I was only a small part of the collaborations. On every assignment that I had, I looked over the feedback given and made changes accordingly. For the Impact of a Growth Mindset Plan, I got some helpful feedback and I changed it accordingly to provide more information about my plan. After receiving the grade for my Learning Manifesto I was happy about the outcome. I fixed some little things on it but otherwise the assignment went well. I also completed all of the course readings and videos throughout the course as best as I could and I applied them to my assignments and discussions promptly. They provided some useful insights into blended learning which helped me learn better in this course. I also attended most of the zoom meetings and I did miss one but I watched the recording afterwards. There was not many opportunities in the class meetings to chime in but I did ask one question during one of them.

Looking into the accelerated ADL option was interesting to learn about. I could essentially complete the course in a year which I think is great but with all of the work we have in the courses and our everyday lives and jobs, it would be very hard to take multiple courses at once. I love that we have the option to do that though. Even though I am not able to do it due to financial reasons, I love that its available for those who need it. Overall I am happy about all the contributions and help I got in this course. Going forward I hope that I will participate in discussions as much as I can and not put them off till later. By the end of the program I believe I will be able to see my progress and growth in my learning.
