Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

I personally love Thanksgiving. It is my favorite time of year to get together with my family. We always meet at someone’s house and we have family come from out of town to join us. It has been a tradition with my family to have everyone bring a dish. We would pick a color to represent the type of food we would bring. For example if someone chose white, they would bring mashed potatoes and other dishes that have white in them. Every year without fail we always get together to celebrate even if we don’t have the whole family there with us.

We would always have it down in south Texas while my grandmother was still alive but unfortunately she passed away many years ago and ever since then we have been getting together at Thanksgiving because it was her favorite holiday. It has definitely been hard on us to gather all at the same time in one place now because our family is spread out in Texas. My siblings and I were the youngest of our cousins and now we are just starting our lives out so sometimes we cannot attend thanksgiving. For example, my brother is getting his PHD in Indiana and I have started with my ADL Masters degree so it is sometimes hard for us to find the time to get together.

I look forward to Thanksgiving every year because we are able to gather with my family and that is one of the only times I get to see everyone in my family in the same room. I treasure these moments now because in the future, it will be changing as life goes by and I will start a family and be busy with my own life. I recommend to anyone reading this to please find the time to be with family because every precious minute counts. You don’t know how lucky you are until their gone. This isn’t my usual kind of post but I was thinking about it today so I wanted to share my experience.
